Republican Heller Votes with Democrats on VETERANS’ JOBS BILL, but the Grand Old Party was Still Able to Block the Bill from Becoming Law
FILIBUSTERING and VOTING AGAINST THE BILL were Republicans; Minority Leader MITCH McCONNELL, Senator JEFF SESSIONS of Alabama, Sen. RAND PAUL of Kentucky, Senator JOHN BOOZMAN of Arkansas, Senator MIKE JOHANS of Nebraska, Senator RICHARD BURR of North Carolina, Senator PAT TOOMEY of Pennsylvania and Senator TOM COBURN of Oklahoma and most other Republican Senators. The measure would have provided a billion dollars toward getting up to 20,000 veterans employed. Veterans have a higher that average unemployment rate today. These men and their Republican cohorts struck a blow against Veterans who are committing suicide at the highest rate in history by effectively killing this bill for this congressional session. With over 200,000 Veterans currently unemployed this is an outrage and a disgrace for every these Senators and those who support them from their respective States.
Many are asking; What has happened to the Republican Party, does their hate for Obama have such power that they can no longer vote for what is best for the nation as a whole? The same Republicans complain that due to Obama’s policies the unemployment rate is over 8% and then block a bill that would lower that rate when given the opportunity.
This is VERY STRANGE indeed; what in the world is going on in the minds of the Republican Senators.
